The artist Rosa Mundi, with the work entitled The Abramitic Forest, introduces us in a secular journey, back in history, between the folds of the sacred scriptures, creating an imaginary space between past and present, between the daily dimension of our life and time of a humanity, traveling the sacred scriptures in the forest of cosmic knowledge, finding traces in the first steps of Abraham up to the present day.

Every conceptual barrier or geographical border – harbinger of the most atrocious forms of misunderstanding, prejudice and religious fanaticism – are dissolved in the transparency of this work placed, for the first time, in an urban space of the historic center of Palermo, in the contemporary art of the Sicily Region, Museo Belmonte Riso.

The choice of the adjective to be postponed to the only noun in the title of the work, that is the word Abramitica wants, in a single stroke, like a plow that goes to the root of the wheat stems, to bring everything back to the undisputed father of the three Abrahamic religions, the forefather of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic creed.

The theme of Genesis is represented by the three communities in the same way in the words of the Old Testament, to the reference to Abraham in the first steps of the Gospel up to the suras of the Koran. Rosa Mundi engraves, on the trunks of the Abramitic Forest, in the ideal bark of the centuries, the words of the Genesis of the three sacred texts in the Hebrew, Greek, Latin and Arabic languages.

The Abramitica Forest is a site-specific work to music a part of the historic Palazzo Belmonte Riso – severely damaged by the bombings of the Second World War – and that before the installation was apostrophized as a mere local staircase, today renamed Sala della Scala Ovale or Sala Rosa Mundi.

The positioning of this work was thus an opportunity for the artist to build – between exhibition space and work – a silent and progressive irreversible dialogue, leading the gaze to the glass ceiling, which in turn is heated by daily transparencies of light.

The work, motionless on the ground floor, can be followed by entering into it like a spiral, reading and deciphering the words engraved on the transparent scroll. The spectator is thus introduced towards the most rigid, but still plastic marble staircase, letting glimpse of the curves in wrought iron of the balustrade, in a sort of dance in which the public can participate and be part of it, becoming an actor, step by step.

Rosa Mundi has defined the genesis of this work as an unmissable appointment of her existence and of her laboratory research, both as a human condition and as a plant of this universe. The word Forest recalls a state of mind that sees and can not see the horizon, beyond the rustling of the branches and leaves of the trees, can only imagine it. The forest is also an intuition of the best road to take to reach the true destination of one’s journey.

The Abramitic forest as Rosa Mundi’s bed of God, are humanoid environments of dilated temporal spatial concepts, without limits and where the apparent limit is the occasion of artistic conceptual infinity.
